Tasks get their own tab, and Google Calendar integration !

In removing the 'Tags' tab last week, we've made room to give Insightly tasks a tab all of their own. We're going to make some improvements to the task interface in the coming weeks, but this was the first step.

We also added the ability to subscribe to your Insightly Tasks from within Google Calendar, by exposing your task list as an iCalendar feed. Google makes it easy to subscribe to iCalendar feeds, and it refreshes the data every few hours. Other software such as Apple iCal, Microsoft Outlook, and Mozilla Calendar also support subscriptions from an iCalendar feed.

You can find instructions on how to add your Insightly Tasks to Google Calendar from within Insightly at  http://googleapps.insight.ly/Tasks/iCal

Google Calendar has very good notification options for task items, as you can receive notification by email message, popup window, or even by SMS message on your mobile phone. We're looking to turn off Insightly's own email reminder notifications for tasks in the coming weeks so as not to double up with Google's more flexible notification service.

A screenshot of what it all looks like is below:

  3. I can't get the tasks to show up in my calendar and its been over 24 hours. I have a ton of tasks but they don't have due dates - is that the problem?

  4. @Me My guess is probably yes, since they are sent to the calendar as events not tasks... and events need to have a date.
It would be far better if they went as tasks (lots of reasons....)

  5. Sorry, my bad. I just posted a whine and then figured out that if merely include a due date on the task, it shows up nicely on my Google calendar. That makes Insight.ly a game winner for us. Thanks

  6. Hi, in my case tasks are added to the calendar and can’t complain about the sync. However, the tasks are marked on the calendar only by their due date. Even if I have long multi-day task it shows in the calendar only on its due date,
I always provide starting and due dates for each task, but it seems is not respected when exporting to gCal. Any chance to work around the issue?

  8. ok... I got it. To anybody that tried added the calendar but don't see them show up.
    A) make sure you have due dates
    B) create a new url and add that one

    That did it for me
